On Leave: I am currently on leave from Vanderbilt University and serving as a Program Director at the National Science Foundation(NSF), Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE), Division of Information and Intelligent Systems (IIS), Robust Intelligence Cluster (RI).

My Independent Research and Development (IRD) while serving at (and supported by) the NSF focuses on applications of artificial intelligence to problems of sustainability and climate change, quantifying the energy footprints of computing infrastructure and its use (including its potential to reduce energy footprints in other sectors such as travel), and infusing computing education with treatments of contemporary and ethical issues.
