Potential students, postdocs, and visitors: please read the information below before contacting me. This information correctly reflects the current status of various openings in my research laboratory.
Robotics at Vanderbilt: Vanderbilt has a number of robotics research groups in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and the Mechanical Engineering departments.
As a general rule, I do not reply to unsolicited, irrelevant, mass email inquiries regarding my research program, potential openings in my laboratory or the status of your application to the graduate program. If you are seriously interested in working with me, please follow the guidelines below. Thank you!
I expect to recruit new PhD students to work in the Human-Machine Teaming laboratory for Fall 2010. Please (a) read about the Vanderbilt Graduate School admissions process and the School of Engineering Graduate programs and (b) contact the School of Engineering's Coordinator of Graduate School Recruiting, Dolores Black before contacting me. After that, if you have an interest in my research, please put together a web page providing your relevant research and send me (and other faculty you are interested in) the URL, instead of sending materials as attachments. Please note that I cannot and will not comment on the status of your application.
If you are at Vanderbilt and are interested in contributing to my robotics research on a volunteer basis, you are encouraged to provide the Interested Contributor information outlined below and to request a meeting with me via e-mail.
I do not typically fund MS students as research associates. If you are interested in pursuing a MS Thesis with me, then it is best to put together a web page with your relevant research and send me (and other faculty you are interested in) the URL instead of sending materials as attachments. If you are interested in completing your thesis in my group specifically, please provide the materials listed in the Interested Contributor Section below via an email to me. Please note that I cannot and will not comment on the status of your application.
I welcome the participation undergraduate students in my research laboratory. All interested students are encouraged to submit the materials listed in the Interested Contributor section below to me via email.
Currently, I do not have any funded postdoc positions available. Therefore, only qualified individuals who have their own funding can be considered.
If you are a student at Vanderbilt at any level and are interested in getting involved in robotics research on a volunteer basis, you are encouraged to submit the materials listed in the Interested Contributor section below to me via email.
Externally-funded visitors interested in collaborating with my laboratory are welcome to contact me by email, but because of limited resources, please note that I can only consider visitors who fulfill the following criteria: 1) have a background that is directly related to one or more of the laboratory's research areas, and 2) plan to perform hands-on work on a well-defined agreed-upon project of mutual interest that will lead to joint publications.
The Vanderbilt Human-Machine Teaming Laboratory is an active research group. To facilitate productive research, we conduct a limited number of laboratory tours. If you are interested in a tour, please contact me.
Thank you for your interest in the Human-Machine Teaming Laboratory's research!
